Tivo: My Hero

Another company that understands the importance of using a blog for their business as a marketing and promotional tool. Tivo has launched a blog. They have hired a blogger named Nova to evangelize all things Tivo.Ads by AdGenta.com

In addition to their business blog, they are launching a project called the Tivo Ambassador with a chance for someone to win cash and a Mini Cooper.

Interestingly they have also posted a disclaimer about posting comments on the Tivo Blog

Guidelines for Posting on TiVo Blog:
By submitting my comments and by participating in the TiVo Blog, I agree to allow TiVo Inc. to use my name and comments in whole or in part for publicity purposes on the TiVo Website or other promotional materials without further permission or compensation. I understand that my submitted comments becomes property of TiVo Inc. and will not be returned, and that I release all rights and claims to the content submitted for the TiVo Blog. I also state that the content submitted is of my own original creation and style and acknowledge that my comments will be subject to review by TiVo and edited in whole or in part by TiVo prior to publication.

I appreciate their need to review comments and perhaps moderate those as needed, but I disagree that they have the right to edit the comments in whole or in part. I think this portion of the disclaimer hurts the credibility of the comments as approved. How do we know that they are not changing the substantive statements made by the commenter to suit their marketing needs. I would like to see that they may choose to publish or not publish rather than editing the comment of a third party. Perhaps they should rethink this strategy.
