Passion might not be able to be bought–but that way of thinking is highly discouraging to indviduals for whom writing, and even blogging, is indeed a passion. It’s kind of elitest to say one always has to suffer for one’s passion and art if one wants to remain pure and passionate. Arent’ you passionate about something, and don’t you make a living from it?

I think there is potential with the concept, but agree with Raj, the amount seems inflated. I know several thousand pro bloggers and the payouts do not come up to those kinds of number.

I know a few of the top 100 bloggers and their business models are very different and the earnings are much larger than quoted as well.

I suspect that the number might be an average of two ends of the spectrum, but doesn’t indicate that the middle of the spectrum is heavily populated.

That said, I launched a new site this month to attract political bloggers covering the fifty states in the US. If I can get my writers and bloggers up to that level of earnings it will be a monstrous success.

I read the journal everyday so their numbers usually aren’t too half baked unless they have a pair or three of sources suffering from group think or bad data. Hopefully I am not being too pessimistic.

Nope Raj, you’re not. Good ad revenue is in who you use. Text Link Ads, for example, give you typically good payout. Adsense makes very few people a lot of money.

IMHO, it’s in writing and consulting services that the best money it.

Am I in the wrong universe? I don’t even make $400/m from ads over 50 blogs (that might be my real mistake), though I do make good money ghostblogging for several “clients”

Do you agree with that estimate of $2,000-10,000 per month? How are they getting there? I write and research 12-17 hrs/ day, 7 days/week.

What we do is simple. We maintain a list of bloggers and what they can write about. Then when a client needs a blogger we go through the list. We try to match people pretty closely with areas they are comfortable writing about. Pretty simple.

For bloggers who are don’t already know, we like to check out their blog and hire them on a trial basis first.

I saw the article and was intrigued enough to visit this site (btw, they hyperlinked every other site but yours, I had to Google you guys). After reading through and clicking on categories for the better part of an hour, I’ve yet to find the actual meat of how a blogger interested in making money can be paired up with a company in need of a blogger. So then, what must a blogger do?
