I was talking to my partner Tris tonight about blogging. We are both very passionate about blogging and the many rewards we both derive from writing and posting articles and basically just being a member of the blogosphere. He is always blogging day in and day out constantly writing article and essays, and I try to blog as much as possible given my family of four kids 6 and under, running a business and answering emails and talking to prospective clients about blogging.
Both of us have recently worked many hours on the Best of Blog Awards more commonly known as the BoB Awards . It seems that the harder we worked the more work we had. The coding the voting, the reading of blogs zapped our energy to the point of exhaustion. I was pushing Shylah our other partner to the limits of her energy as well. I thank both of them for their time, effort and sacrifice.
The cost of this push for work? It could be a blog speed bump, causing us to slow and recharge. What can happen when you take a breath to recharge? You can lose your mojo, you can get out of your groove, and lose the momentum for writing and posting. It seems that there is always something more important than putting up some content on the blog. We have bills to pay, contracts to write, deals to put to bed. All of these are part of how we keep the business running and making money, but how does that put words on a page? It doesn’t.&Keywords=writing&BANNER_STYLE=1&WIDTH=120&HEIGHT=150&FOOTER_GRADIENT=0)
This is not any different that the rest of the businesses we speak to about blogging. Perhaps they are too small to have people to write articles or posts related to business, or this is the end of the year when they do books and take stock and counting widgets, which does not give them time to write.
Sometimes it pays just to sit at the keyboard and think about your business. It is the thing that makes you passionate. If you had to make small talk with a person across the table, what would you say. If they asked what you did for a living, what would you say to them? It need not be an in depth look, but maybe just a sketch. You can make your blog a conversation. Just speak to the customer. Tell them that you can’t seem to get your groove on. After all, you have to work, why not talk about what it is like to do it.

[...] Jonathan had a chuckle about introducing a recognizable name of Jim Turner the professional football kicker with the infamous Son of Sam killer, David Berkowitz. It was a way of breaking the ice and makes for some interesting small talk. It wasn’t the names that brought us together in the end, it was our blogs. It seems that David and I had written similar posts about blogging and Jonathan thought it important for us to chat. [...]
