Google Doing What Microsoft Should Be Doing

Just reading that Google is rumored to buy Plaxo for $200M and I keep thinking to myself, why is Google doing what Microsoft should be doing instead of purchasing Yahoo?  I guess that is why I’m not running a company that can write a check for $44.6B, but it seems to me that Google is getting the same things with its purchases that Microsoft is trying to get through Yahoo, but they will be buying these smaller companies at a fraction of the cost.

Yahoo has been a sinking ship in fact most of the Yahoo fleet is taking on water.  Microsoft should be out buying rising stars and allowing them to grow.  Google has shown that strategy to work in it’s purchases such as YouTube.  I haven’t seen a lot of traction coming to Jaiku but I assume that purchase will provide to be beneficial to the Google family.  Microsoft could get some of the same types of companies being offered in the acquisition of Yahoo, buy purchasing them as the become available.

I agree with you. As a result of this Google will only become more powerful and continue it’s dominance, but they deserve to. They continue to make smart decisions like this and beat competitors to the punch.
